All I know is...the first log in after the update downloaded, made my campsite have a villager in it (was no camper before) and Kyle was there (whom I've been seeking) <333.
I was a little worried it was going to reset Redd out of my town but luckily he was still there too. <3

Yes, it will be a little slower. Lower MTU value means less 'packets' are sent over the servers. It isn't really a bad thing, but those with less than favourable internet speeds (AKA me) will have increased disconnects.

MTU stands for "Maximum Transmission Units", which basically refers to the file size of 'packets' being sent over servers online. It's basically internet communications, in a sense.
