Hello!

Quick intro: Got a 3DS for my birthday this summer and have been playing AC:NL since then. It's my first AC game! I'm loving it, it's lots of fun. I don't totally understand how multiplayer works with people far away, so I need some pointers on that front.

I have Merengue, who I'm given to understand is very popular. I'm not particularly attached to the strawberry shortrhino (though she is great!) and would be very willing to give her up for a fair price. I saw one thread where someone sold her for like 30m? Is that even remotely accurate?

I'm also not really clear on... how this works, exactly. Do I need the dream center? And I presume I need to not talk to Merengue for awhile for her to want to leave/someone to come get her? Does anyone know how long that would be?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The price is however high someone is willing to pay so it could be 30m less or more.

You'd have to wait until she is moving out or TT to when she is moving until she gives you the date, TT to that date, someone comes to your town talks to her then drops you the money. When they talk to her she'll agree to move to their town if they have space for her.

You don't need the dream center. Ignoring her is the best way to get her to move. Time will vary.

Well, once you have an offer on her that you like, you can say ''OK, you can have her''. Then, make her move out. When she is packed in boxes, get the person to come over to your town, drop the money, talk to Merengue until she says ''Why don't I move to your town?'' or something. Then, when you leave the house, there'll be a message on the door saying 'Moved out. - Merengue' And then you end the session! :) Hope this helps :D

Okay, thanks!

Also sorry, this is a dumb question, but to bring someone over to my town I just... give them my friend code and open the gates to my town? Or..? >_>

Sorry I'm such a noob >_<

The extremely popular villagers like Marshal & Stitches I have seen go up to around 100m x_x
But at most times around 60m
Slightly cheaper than that are the villagers like, Merengue & Julian and others, they can go for the same as that sometimes but usually slightly lower.
I never really buy or sell villagers so unfortunately I can't be much help there.

As for trading, you don't need the Dream suite. You just need to have access to the internet and add the person you are trading with to your DS friend list and open your gates.

As for getting Merenge to leave there are alot of ways people claim to be better, I find that not talking to them doesn't work. Most villagers that ask to leave are the ones you are most friendly with. Also if you don't talk to a villager for a while (Around 3 days) then they will not 'ping' you and tell you they are leaving, instead you will have to find out from another villager, once you have founf out from them that someone is leaving and they haven't 'pinged' you, you will have to talk to them, once for them to mention they haven't spoke to you in a while and a second time for good measure, the next day go straight to them and they will 'ping' you first thing and tell you they are leaving.

Once you have the villagers moving date, you can a) wait or b) TT to their moving day, they will be in boxes, this is when the trade takes place, the person who is picking them up will go to their house and convince them to move to their own town.

They should also leave payment either before or after (usually before) talking to the villager.

And that's basically it xD

That's about it. They add yours and you add theirs. Then you open your gates.

So now... if anyone is interested in acquiring Merengue, let me know! XD

I've never seen Merengue go for any higher than 20mil but maybe that's just me... Maybe people from Reddit will be willing to buy for a high amount?

Yes, you will usually get a higher price on Reddit, but of you wait to a busier day on here she can go for alot, personally I think the price of villagers is rediculous, especially since it could take you weeks to earn that amount of money when you could spend about 2 hours resetting for that villager if you don't have that personality type already in your town.

20m still sounds pretty good to me!

And I'd rather sell to this community than reddit? Everyone seems so nice

idk. If you TT to sunday and hunt down people with 400+ turnip prices for a few days, you'll have 50mil in the bank. I think a lot of redditors bid so high because there's a turnip subreddit and people with great turnip prices offer others to sell their turnips like every hour.

In this game, turnips. It takes about 1 hour of buying+selling turnips to make at least 12 mil or more. It's really easy, all you have to do is find someone with good prices, which isn't that hard.

Then there's finding villagers. There are over 300 villagers. In the normal category, there are about 73 villagers. On average, it takes about 5 minutes for each reset. Assuming that you're even getting normal villagers in the first place from the reset trick (which is actually harder to get than you think, it doesn't always only pick a personality that you don't have), you would find the villager that you're looking for in about 36 resets (on average).

Now lets see the time put into this. 36 resets x 5 minutes = 1800 minutes = 30 hours

So, 30 hours of pure resetting without sleeping

Let's see how much bells you can make in that amount of time.

30 hours x 12 mil = 360 mil. So you would be able to make 360 mil in about the same time it takes to reset for Merengue

Then there is trying to TT a villager out. This can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 5 hours. Assuming that you take 2 hours to TT someone out, that is 24 mil bells worth of time already

Does this justify the price yet? Bells are WAAAAY easier to get than villagers. I'm glad that prices aren't even close to breaking over the 100 mil mark, meaning that the prices aren't even close to how much effort can be put into getting them.

Yes but then there is the 2 or more hour trade to come at a price for selling that high, even using the buying through re-tail trick.

Also i'm sorry but I have managed to get 6 (7 in about an hour from a trade) of my dream villagers in less than the 30 hours that you say it takes to get one.

And I haven't once sold or bought any of them.

There's lots of ways to find turnip prices. There's like 4 different forums and a subreddit. You'll find an average of at least 10-20 people a day with prices over 500 if you look hard enough

It can take a CRAZY amount of time to find a villager you want through resetting. Bells are extremely easy to make in this game.

We're lucky enough that villagers don't cost over 100 mil

I just spent 10 minutes of my life about an hour ago and just made 3.6 mil. It's pretty easy

I've bought Coco for 10 mil. That was only about 40-50 minutes wasted on trying to get her. I can EASILY get my dream villagers just by putting that tiny amount of effort into it. It's amazing, actually

Edit: I actually have all my dream villagers already. I've barely put any effort into it, either. Just 3 hours worth of turnips let me end up with about 36 mil. Bought Coco with 10 mil, Wolfgang for 6 mil, Kabuki for 1 mil, Pashmina for 5 mil, all for a total of 22 mil.

And I have 14 mil left over. It just takes a tiny bit of effort as long as your villagers aren't in the top 5 out of 300 villagers. If you want to be part of that top 5, be prepared to work for it. You really don't have to work much, though, if you're buying for less than 20 mil.

I think you are missing what I am trying to say here, I am talking about the amount of time it would take on the actual trade, selling a villager for a price that high means a long trade.

I could reset for that villager or two of my dream villagers in that time.

Also I am not condemning anyone who sells or buys villagers, everyone has their own way of doing things, if you want to spend your time dealing with all those bells then go for it.
I would rather reset, I find it a hell of alot easier.
And if I come across a really expensive villager I would rather trade for another villager or gift them, not everyone likes to TT and not everyone can make bells so easy.
