Second Town?

I don't get how so many people have second towns. Is it because many people have more than one game? I thought you could only have one town per game cartridge. Is there a way to get 2?

You can buy multiple cartridges so, virtually, the number of towns is unlimited. You can only buy one AC game from the Nintendo store though so you can't have multiple AC games on your SD card.

You can have one digital and I'm pretty sure however many physical copies using one sd card

Buying multiple copies of the same game just to have another file is a bit silly to me, but I guess some people are hardcore fanatics.
