Hi, I am getting a second copy of animal crossing (new leaf of course) very soon. (probably tuesday or thursday) anyways, I was wondering if any of you had price suggestions, town name suggestions, and how long i should do it if it isn't permanent. Hopefully somebody that has had experience with this can help, or if you haven't, you can probably help too. Also, I'm fairly new to "lurking", so a bit of an elaboration on that would be great. I don't think this is the wrong part of the forum, since i am asking advice, but I may be wrong, so please tell me if I am and I need to move it. Thanks :D

Hello! I am not nor have ever been a cycler myself, but I have seen how many cycling towns operate over time, so I might be of some help.

First of all, how long you cycle is totally up to you. I've seen some that were up for a week, then stopped, and some that have been cycling for over five months. It probably mostly depends on how satisfied you are with your cycling. I've noticed recently that there have been a lot more short-lived cycling threads than there were over the summer. Not sure why that is (probably several factors...)

Anyway, second, villager prices also kind of depend from person to person. There are free cycling threads, then threads where tier 1 buyouts can sometimes be 400 tbt. From what I've seen, the cheaper threads seem to get more attention - for example, tier 1 buyouts being 200, tier 2 being 150, tier 3 being 75, etc. where people are free to make offers below that, but if the buyout is offered, then that person definitely gets the villager. I really like that structure, myself.

Some cyclers allow people to lurk, and some do not. It's totally up to whether you feel you can deal with it or not. When a user lurks for a villager (or several), you write their name down on a list, and when that villager either moves into your town or into boxes, then you notify them via VM that said villager has moved in/is in boxes. Thus, they somewhat get priority over the villager in question. I've seen people get very overwhelmed by this, however, and they become unable to notify every single lurker. (Which, with the recent influx of cycling threads, the lurk lists seem to be shorter. So idk, it's up to you if you want to let people lurk.)

As for name ideas... how about some of these?:
Twinkle
Buntown (since you seem to like bunnies!)
Eclair
Viola
Canela
Fantasia
Luminia
Marigold

Thanks! I think now that I read about it, buyouts sound good, and maybe only a lurk list of 10 ( as well as a reservation list of 10)! I like the name Fantasia a lot! I remember it was part of the name of a song i sung in chorus, i think it was Nelle Fantasia, or Nella Fantasia, I can't remember it, but it was pretty :D
I think ill continue mine for a month, and if its not too strenuous, ill keep it, or if its too hard, i can modify it etc.

I'm not a cycler myself but here's my experience from seeing lots of cycling threads.

The name is completely up to you, though I think it's nice when cyclers pick something more original because adopted villagers will sometimes mention it in conversations. How long you cycle is up to you. Some people cycle for a long time, while other people cycle just enough to get their dream villagers. I don't have any price suggestions but you should check recent cycling threads to see what the averages are for villagers of different tiers. If you choose, you can disregard that completely and have a flat fee.

Lurking is when someone who really wants a specific villager (even when you don't have) posts in the thread. Then they get notified when that villager moves in or out. There are cyclers who offer reservations too, usually for a fee, meaning that person gets a certain time frame to adopt that villager.

All of that is completely up to you. Some people have more complex cycling towns with lots of options while others just offer the minimum of posting when a villager moves in or is in boxes. It's up to you what you have the time to deal with.
