Okay so I go to the currency tab right? I'm new here but I saw which posts gave me TBT. Then there are ones with slashes on them that say spent....but.....WHY? I didn't spend anything right? I did close a thread though, does that have anything to do with it? Also, WHAT IN DA WORLD are seashells for? ALSO...(sorry) but how do I spend TBT? There are some DLC things that I need because well (I mean if you don't have a DLC then it's safe to assume that you weren't able to get it when it was available) but if I can't get the TBT I'm going to look SOOO dumb. Please someone HELLLPPP!....please if you can

Spent: You probably edited your post (and added less content) so therefore forum currency is deducted and recalculated.
Seashells are like the welcome bells, but only given to new members (and "old" people who joined from October last year who never got welcome bells) and you can spend that and forum currency in the Shop tab above.
You get forum currency by posting in most forums sans Basement/Cellar and Bulletin Board (I think) and you can also sell allowed off-site virtual items and collectibles, art etc.

posting in general earns you TBT except in certain forums (introduction board, the basement, somewhere else I think) and editing your posts makes you lose TBT if you shorten them. I'm not sure if closing threads does too, but probably.
back before October, new members used to get about 500 TBT to get them started on the forums, but that was stopped due to people abusing it, and replaced with seashells. seashells can be used in kapp'n's shop (click the shop tab) to buy things like a username change and avatar extension.
TBT can be spent by clicking on a persons amount of bells in their sidebar or profile, and a little menu will pop up. type in the amount you'd like to send them and hit submit! c:

In the past, when you first joined, you would get "Welcome Bells", however you now get "Welcome Seashells". Seashells are spent in the "Shop" tab, in Kapp'n's Shop. Spend your seashells wisely, as far as I know, you can never get more.
When you POST a thread, you lose bells. The amount of bells that you lose depends on the size of the post. You also lose bells when you edit a thread or post. However, you earn them back pretty quickly, so don't fret. And remember, posting things like pictures, cost more. For example, posting a picture costs 2 Bells.
And if you are real low on TBT, enter some giveaways, or look for threads with "TBT/BTB exchange". The average rate is 200k IGB = 1 TBT, 10 million IGB = 50 TBT, etc.
