(SD#1 stands for Serious Discussion #1. As evidenced by the "#1", I hope to post more of these in the future).
Child stars. They're cute, aren't they? Yeah, during the first few years, maybe. After that, things get ugly. Everyone knows what happened to people like Britney Spears, Judy Garland, Gary Coleman, Lindsay Lohan, and Drew Barrymore (who was an alcoholic by age 9, and a pothead by age 10). It's obvious that too much attention, especially at an early age, has disastrous outcomes. So who's next on "child star death row"?
Miley Cyrus, of course.
Just today, my mom and I went out for groceries. On the way, we stopped at a Target store. We're greeted by various posters, toys, and clothes with Miley's face on them. My mom's reaction? "I'm not buying anything that has that prostitute-in-the-making's face on it."
"So, mom, I'm assuming you saw the Vanity Fair thing..."
To be fair, she didn't actually pose nude; but hell, the photos sure give off a different impression. "Artistic"? At 15? Give me a freaking break! The success is getting to her head; I'd probably go crazy if I saw my face staring back at me on near every single product in any given store. Give Miley a few more years, the rate this is going, and we'll be hearing about her hair-shaving escapades and rehab stays.
Honestly, is our society really that stupid? "Hannah Montana"... my God, someone actually considers that stuff "music"? But I'm not gonna go into the topic of "deterioration of society" just yet... I'll save that for Serious Discussions #2 : )
So yeah... discuss! I'd appreciate if the replies in this thread were thought out... and preferably longer than a few sentences.
