Scared to near-death

Wow owo I was going to the station to put some stuff away and right there was a tarantula. I didn't have my net though :/

I'm more scared when I'm walking along the shore, looking intently for fish, and an oak silk moth suddenly flaps away. That's some startling, scary shibbit.

That was me, I did. My mom was cracking up because I wasn't paying attention and suddenly I'm at my house..? Cx

I just realized that I saw three tarantulas by the train station, and that's where I caught one. I bet they come in on the train.

I was picking up stuff for people in my giveaway thread last night when one started scurrying around near me. It scared the bejesus out of me because it came out of a flower patch. I'm glad I don't regularly carry around my net.

Yesterday one of my days I had back luck and kept falling over. I didn't know there was a scorpion hiding behind a tree because I mean, I obviously can't see it. So I was running around, noticed it was chasing me, fell over, got stung. It scared the crap out of me!

I never caught one last summer, so I HAD to do it this year so I could complete my museum. Day 1 saw 2. #1 disappeared before I could get close enough to it before I brought out my net. #2 stung me and I woke up infront of my house (who carries you there???). Day 2 saw 2. #1 stung me. #2 was in a patch of flowers and couldn't see it (but could hear it). Day 3 saw 2. #1 jumped into a pond. #2 disappeared on me before I was ready. Day 4 finally caught the darn thing. I never want to see another one EVER.

I still can't find any tarantulas no matter how much I run around at night holding a net. They're in season for me since I'm in real time. How does everyone find their tarantulas?

First off... Don't have your net in hand, they will attack you before you can get close enough.
They seem to spawn in open areas, but will walk into flowerbeds/ponds/rivers & off cliffs. I had to take out 3 large areas of flowers and re-planted them on the beach just so I had some wide-open spaces to see them. They come out (but are rare) between 7pm & 4 am. Walk up towards them slowly and then get your net out and swing. You will only have one chance before they attack. I saw all of mine between 7pm-Midnight (don't usually play past midnight).
Last year, I rarely saw any tarantulas in my town (June - Aug) but saw/caught several scorpions (July- Sept 7pm-4am).

My town is littered with flowers, so I have to listen for tarantulas. Needless to say, they usually find me first.

EDIT: I did manage to catch one. After you see the tarantula and it notices you, grab your net. Approach slowly, treat it like a beetle. If it hisses, stop until it's calm. Eventually you should be close enough to snag it.
