They will be quite upset at you. My brother's done this a few times, 'cause he thinks their reactions are hilarious or something. So yeah... it also lowers friendship, so......... yeah.

Yes, they yell at you and stomp around. It's pretty dreadful. My most recent encounter was when I accidentally gave a rotten peach to my Scooter Booter. He was so angry, poor guy.

I wonder if Shrunk would accept rotten fruit? Never tried, I'm going to try and do that next.

So, it turns out giving Rotten Fruit to Shrunk isn't even possible. It's greyed out.

If you give rotten apple to a villager, some villagers will get angry and some will get depressed. I never give my villagers rotten fruits though coz i love them so too much to hurt them even if they're just virtual.

They will get angry at you for giving them a piece of garbage delicious rotten fruit and then yell at you, but they won't stay mad very long at all.
You usually won't get anything in return though. But it beats paying to get rid of it at Re-Tail.
