Roads in ACNL?

I've noticed in other towns some people have had roads built and they look really pretty. How do you go about building roads? Is it a public works project you have to earn?

They're QR codes, you're able to scan them in with the sewing machine.

Oh wow that's crazy. How do you place them in your town though?

You just select the pattern in your design tab, there's an option to put it on the ground.

I have roads in a couple of my towns.The one on the top is a qr code I found and the one on the bottom is one that I made.There's also qr codes for sidewalks and I think they make the roads look a lot better.
