So I’m very upset at what I inadvertently did to Judy’s house. It started with her pinging me and asking me for my black bass because she just HAD to have one for herself. Sigh. Okay I’m not a fan because it doesn’t match her aesthetic but whatever Judy, I love you and can’t say no to you. Then much later on she pings me and wants my hermit crab. Seriously Judy? Well maybe she’ll replace the black bass with the hermit crab? Ok let’s go for it. Nope now she has both displayed. Well I think to myself, “there’s no way she’ll display three creatures so I’m going to give her an orchid mantis because they’re pretty and maybe she’ll replace one of the ugly creatures she begged me to give her.” NOPE NOW SHE HAS ALL THREE DISPLAYED. Well fml I guess. Sorry for making your house so ugly Judy. 😭 🤣

I've done this! Most of the villagers now have crazy, no theme, jumbled mess interiors. So frustrating, especially when they had such nice places before. If anyone has a fix....I'd really, really love to hear about it.

Sadly I don’t think there is a way to fix it other then give her something else and hope that she replace the fish with the gift. I wish We could talk to Isabelle and get their houses reset like with their outfits and catchphrases.

I made this mistake with Audie before. Honestly, it served as a good reminder not to sell any fishes!

I did the same thing to poor Bluebear! She has so many fish tanks in her house and the furniture I give her never replaces them. I wish you could reset their homes back to original. That would help with trading villagers as well. Oh well!

I made the same mistake and agreed to give Judy a Black Bass, I’ve gifted her other furniture to try to get rid of it but no matter what the fish stays out! Fortunately the other bits take the focus off the fish a bit and as Judy’s house is quite empty they help balance it out so it could be worse! Taught me my lesson to say no though!

If I see a thought bubble, I drop buyable items on the ground before talking. If they run up and ask me for something, I promise them I'll catch them a fish or bug, but I don't do it. If you could redecorate a villager's house to your liking, then I wouldn't care.

Honestly, I had to steel my heart and be the bad guy by saying no.

My only comfort is knowing that I’m doing it for their own good because they don’t know any better. (Like me when I get random cravings)

omg i feel your pain i recently messed up tom the cats house and ive been painstakingly trying to put it back to normal but he keeps putting things in the wrong places 😭

I almost want to just buy like 10 coffee cups and give her one every day until she has one on every surface. That’d literally be better than the fish and bugs 🤣

That’s honestly such a good idea though. I didn’t even think of that

I made this mistake too, with Ankha and sprinkle. They both have unique houses and I make it look bad. They want to buy my fish and I say why not cause I don't know yet. Then I saw it at their house and I was upset. If only I can buy the fish back

My suggestion: “Animal Crossing” should give the villagers/islanders a second floor. That is what can change. The first floor stays original.

This happened to me a lot in NL. I've hardened my heart in NH and tell them, "No" so I don't wreck their houses.

Same. I don't give them anything, typically. I did give Zucker a book when he asked for it, and it's nicely laid out on a table. I can live with that. No fish or bugs to anybody. Ever. I'm mean that way.

And for anyone on the fence, villagers always react nicely to being told no. They’ll say some variation of “You’re right, I shouldn’t give up, I’ll catch one myself” or a similar statement that absolves you of any guilt. They’ll even thank you sometimes for saying no. You won’t feel bad once you say no, so say no, unless you want a stack of rotating cages in your villager houses

Oh, it’s on a surface? You’re in luck. Give her a hanging item like a terrarium or iron lamp every day and when her invisible inventory is full, she will remove tabletop items. It will remove hanging items in her house, too, though. Then, you can give her back the original items and they will go in the correct place if you make sure to give the *exact* item. Color matters very much.

Seriously?! That’s awesome!
