has anyone ever had to restart their town even after making so much progress? i'm having a difficult time working around the current layout of my town and so i'm honestly thinking about just starting from scratch again.

granted i won't REALLY be since i'll transfer my belongings to my girlfriend's town and then pick them up, but i'll go through the public work projects and gracie's and the whole home loans again. i'd have to get a ton of my dreamies back.

my completed fossil and art exhibit will be gone. :'(

should i do this? have any of you ever been in this position?

I've had layout problems before (like w/ making paths work and stuff) but in my experience there's ALWAYS a way to make it work. I haven't restarted my main town since I got the game on release.

I actually reset my town a few weeks ago, and I've had that town since the game came out. I had quite a bit of progress, but I felt the same as you are now. I just wasn't happy with the layout anymore and just wanted a fresh start again. I regret restarting a little because my town is just kind of barren right now compared to others, but I think I made the right choice. c:

I really don't know why I restarted my first town...I had a nice layout, apples (which I still haven't found again to this day) and decent villagers. But I wanted a fresh start, so...in a way, it was kind of worth it. Thankfully, I didn't have too much unlocked so it wasn't as bad as it could've been. c:
A tip of mine for restarting is, if your house/layout is bothering you, it's best to restart because those things can never be changed; they'll be mocking you until you restart, or until you learn to live with it.

What me and my friend did when we got upset at our town layouts is that we deleted all of our PWP, cut down almost if not all trees, and erased all of the paths. She even went so far that she got rid of all her common flowers. So it was like her town was BRAND new, but she has her house and villagers :3 You should try that first before reseting :)

I reset a few weeks ago when I lost Stitches. Someone kept two of each hybrid for me, all of my bells (2 mil, not much), the regal series, and my tools.
If you're really unhappy with your town, restart. It's just a video game when it comes down to it, and if you're not enjoying it, then reset. The loans and Gracie and stuff are still annoying, but it's kinda fun to do again when you've already done it all before. Okay, maybe not the loans, but being able to go to Katrina and Redd and unlocking Club LOL was fun again.

Another thing is, you might fall in love with a villager you'd never have given a chance before. When Agnes's plot appeared I was just :| but she's the coolest Uchi. I might even like her more than Deirdre. Collecting dreamies can be fun again, too, especially if you swap a couple out. And if you have really popular dreamies, reset until you get one or two in the starting five villagers. I did that with Stitches.

my sister, the mayor, hasn't played in months, and I wish I could reset so I could be mayor...but I love my villagers, and I worked so hard on my paths, and I love my town layout and everything :c

I had doubts about restarting all over again. I made soooooo much progress and I had all the villagers I really liked. But I was starting to get bored of the game because I time traveled early and got most things done early (release date early). Now that I restarted, I am having a blast. I have a better layout than before (even though I didn't really care for that-> I always try to work things out with the layout) and I am reunited with my favorite villager, Alfonso. And no more time traveling.

I also transferred my stuff to my brother's town, but I haven't transferred them over to my new town.

Thanks for your story! I've been wanting to restart because I TTd my town to death. But now I have some dreamies that I've gotten from kind people, so I'd feel badly getting rid of them :-\

Agreed. I have a tonne of layout issues but I'm changing them every chance i have. It's about working with what you have. If you get into a habit of it, you'll keep resetting whenever you have a small problem. It's best to try and work around the big problems. Like when Merry moved 2 spaces in front of my house, I was so desperate to reset because all the villager placements in my town were awful. But it's about new opportunity to make your town look different. Like Kabuki's awful house placement has turned into a new flower garden connected to Papi's house. Granted, I'm still unhappy with my town, but at least I can say I still have all my progress and have worked towards what it is now since July.

I know a lot of people have restarted, but I haven't. I would just be too upset to lose all my progress. I do sometimes get bored or unhappy with my town, but I resort to changing things up on a smaller basis (Continuing pathing, changing flowers, cutting down some trees, etc.) instead of completely restarting.
