It's official! Resident Evil 2 is gonna be remade! Since hearing the news that the idea of a remake was pitched to Capcom, it would have been really dumb of them not to approve its development. RE2 is one of the most popular games in the series, especially as a classic RE. I just hope that Capcom does it justice.

Excited? Unhappy? Questions? Thoughts? Concerns?

****-ING A!!!! 8D DEFINITELY looking forward to this, although, I should say, I hope the remake is closer to the remake of Resident Evil 1, in that it retains the classic fixed camera angles and tank controls(which I think adds tension), instead of the RE4 presentation in the fan-made video. Though, either way, I'll DEFINITELY be looking forward to this!! Awesome.:D

I love, love the Resident Evil series! I grew up on them so I'm definitely excited for this remake.

Excited? Of course.

Concerned? Maybe a little.

  • First it was RE4, but that was nbd since they've remade that 4 times now. I expect it to be redone for every ****ing console gen for as long as games are being made. It's like Capcom's version of Nintendo's SMB. =p
  • Then it was the Gamecube port of RE1 that got an HD upgrade, not that it really needed it -- imo, the GC version already looked incredible, and it's also on the Wii which makes it available to Wii U owners, as well. But it was exciting to have on PC. I guess.
  • If you're not already aware, RE0 HD will also be releasing in the near future.. it's my favorite in the series, but wasn't this also just released during the last console gen, too? lol.
  • And now RE2.. though at least this is its first proper remake; the GC version was merely a port.

Don't get me wrong, the Resident Evil series is one of my childhood favorites.. Just feels like they're milking it a bit at this point. Or maybe they've finally realized that the fans don't care as much for the newer games so they're going back to old favorites in order to maintain fanbase (ie, steady cash-flow).

And I mean, I'm so torn on this. As a fan, I'm also upset that they don't they just come out and tell us they have plans to remake the entire series for this gen. I am tired of this sporadic "news" lol.

Just tell me my favorite series will be available in its (canon) entirety on Steam by 2017, pls. :(

I definitely think that if the RE2 remake is like how they did REmake, then it would be fantastic. I wouldn't like it if they did it like RE4. I was considering how it would be like if it was remade to be like Revelations and Revelations 2, but that's no fun either. As a classic RE, it should feel like a classic RE.

REmaster HD was a huge success, and it was a smart move to not only give it the upgrade but also to bring it to current gen consoles. That way, everyone was able to play it without having to turn back to older consoles. It brought in more fans, and RE2 remake should do the same. I believe that Capcom wanted to continue with remaking the series to bring the older games up to speed with the newer REs on the current consoles with updated graphics and improved gameplay. (I hope this is true with the RE0 remaster.) Of course it's gonna bring in a lot of money, but also, at least Hirabayashi listened to the fans' opinions on what game Capcom could make next, thus pitching the idea to Capcom, thus earning the confirmation that the remake is definitely happening.

They will be releasing it on all current gen consoles, so that means the 360, XboxOne, PS3, PS4, and most definitely Steam.
