Reset town for a 4th time?

I'm debating if I should do this. I like my current town, but I am not really liking the layout. It's fine, but villagers build their homes close to each others, and near the town hall, train station, and re-tail. It's all pretty cluttered in some areas, leaving vastly open spaces in other areas (Where other PWPs would not look good). I also want to have a purpose when going over to a new town and leave all of my items except my 7-Eleven set, 3DS, and a japanese-like lantern. That way, I don't need to be bored and not progress through a new town when I start over. Should I go through with resetting my town? (Note: The new leaf save editor won't help alter my decision since I am unable to access it anyways)

i have reset my second town a lot and each time i do not regret it. i think you should reset it if you are leaning toward it because if you don't reset you will just think about resetting it all the time

Thanks for the advice. I decided to go for it. I screwed up on my character when starting a new town, but I got everything I wanted except for Town hall & Train station roof colors (which might not be a bad idea.) Thanks again.

I reset my about 2 month old town Lotus that I got after deleting my old town because there were just a lot of things I was unhappy about. Now I have Taiga and it's the best town I've ever had. I'm glad I didn't just stay with Lotus because I doubt I would be this satisfied with it than I am with Taiga.

Where you say villagers build their houses near to other buildings (inc they like to build close to your characters') seems to be intentional programming.
I have several games and this has happened every time - albeit you get the odd villager that goes away from other buildings.

I wouldn't reset on this issue alone but look at the layout/river/dock-R-tail placement/native fruit - well whatever is important to you when playing. Villagers do move out and you can protect areas with tiles to prevent incoming villagers clustering.

If you decide to reset, then I would suggest plot resetting and/or using tiles for the 6th villager onwards.
In my most recent town I used a combo of tiling areas (earmarked for caf?/police station etc) and plot resetting with a NSF so that I controlled the villager I get (I was getting duplicates with my other towns, 3 Zells is two too many!) plus their location. (did this from the 6th villager onwards).

I feel you.

In the beginning, I was happy when my villagers were all clustered together. It made it easier to visit them, to sort of plan out where PWPs can go (without their houses being in the way), etc. However, as time went on, it looked worse and worse. It makes it so that you need to create a lot of intricate/interesting pathways just so the PWPs don't look stupid.

I didn't end up resetting my town though. Sort of tried to make little gardens with PWPs. But I think it's like what katysu above said. I think it's intentional programming. I have so much free space above the river, but all of my villagers want to move right where my house is (below the plaza) or between town-hall and Re-Tail. My plaza, town-hall, and Re-Tail are all below the river and sort of in this horizontal line.

I have only 1 villager that lives above the river. I used to hate it because it's like right in front of my bridge, but now I'm like okay with it because it's one building that's NOT a PWP up there. The game sort of forces you to plot reset with paths and patterns, which is annoying. Idk. Maybe I'll buy another copy of the game and really work on that.

I do thank you all for your input on my question. I did already reset, but I’ll keep this info in mi d. But I’m curious... this is the first time I’ve heard of plot resetting. How does that work?

I reset my town so many times, it's a wonder why I even bother playing.

Plot resetting is when you make a new character (don't load your mayor or any already existing characters) go through the paces with Rover, then run around your town, and check to see where a new villager is plotted. If they are in a spot you want, then you go to town hall, talk to Isabelle, get your house, talk to Isabelle again and the game will automatically save. At that time, it's safe for you to delete that character and the villager will still be plotted in the spot you wanted. If a villager isn't plotted in a spot you want, then you turn the game off without saving, then turn it back on and go through the new character process again until the villager is plotted where you want. It's a pretty grueling process but it can be worth it if you want villagers plotted in certain areas. Also, you can put down QR patterns where you don't want villagers to move and they won't move there.

Definitely reset if you're not happy with your town..I grew to REALLY hate my main towns map, the only reason I was able to make it work was due to the available hacks in 2015. I'll never reset my main town (too much time went into it, it's an awful map but I love my villagers and all the hard work I put into it), but my second town is what I use for whenever I feel like meeting new villagers and finding the perfect map. I've reset that town about 4 or 5 times now, and with the WA update of villagers not plotting over patterns, it's a lot easier to plot reset and make sure villagers only plot where you want them too. Makes me wish I'd had that luxury with my main town, I wouldn't have had to hack to get my villagers where I want, but I digress lol.
