Removing a tree from a flower bed?

Okay, so like, i've been battling villagers for my garden section where i keep ny perfect oranfe trees. So far i've fought Peanut, Chadder, and now Alfonzo, trying strategies for each one.
Paths didn't work
Items didn't work
buried shells didn't work
So i moved on to the idea of public work projects and i was trying to think of one that would blend in well enough and not ruin the beauty i've been striving for.
And the one that came to mind was the flowerbed.
So i went to a flower bed i had before and dropped a sapling onto it and it worked!
But then... I want to plant perfect fruit trees on these, and that would mean digging a hole, but you can't dig a hole in a flower bed.
So... How do i get a tree stump off of a flower bed after i've cut the tree down?
Will i have to destroy the whole thing?
I'm too cheap for that!

Ah, never mind, the sapling died. guess that means i can't plant bushes on a flowerbed either...

And I was gonna say, you can't plant trees on flower beds.

Yeah they can't grow on flower beds anyway, pretty sure.

Just an idea, but if you have a few public works slots to spare, how about placing some benches? If you space them right you can prevent a house from fitting in between them, giving you some safe space. And I think it could look cute to have some benches in an orchard.

The orchard is only a 5 wide area surrounded by bushes, and my newest task is going to be alternatimg vetween trees and streetlampa
