Okay so I've been trying to redesign Wolfgangs house for quite some time and have a few questions...

1. When they ask you to give them ANY piece of furniture, can you pretty much choose which piece they're going to replace? I've done this 4 times with Wolfgang and each time he keeps replacing the last item I'm giving him (which is super annoying because theyre items from the sloppy series/unorderable)

So, for example I gave him a sloppy tv, which fits 1 space. He replaced a gyroid, good.
Then I gave him a sloppy dresser. also fits 1 space, which he put next to his modern bed.
Then I gave him a sloppy bed (was hoping to replace his modern bed) which fits 2 spaces, but he removed the sloppy dresser WTH.
So, do I need to give him a different bed that is the same size as the modern to replace it?

2. If any of you successfully redesigned villagers houses, how did you do it?
I did it with Whitney but all I did was customize the furniture and mail it to her. So she has the same classic series, it's just a violet brown.
So, would mailing be better? Being invited to their house? or what.

Thanks in advance~

I usually try to stick with their original themes; stock themes in the locker for when a certain villager requests for new furniture- I can give them one that will go well with their house look, use only one theme for each villager houses, or put together two different theme styles (sometimes villagers have different furniture sets). I use the machine at the store to order orderable furniture sets if there's an item in a villagers house I want gone, plus convenience or buy sets on forums here/Tumblr for back up especially the unorderable sets c:

1. In general they'll replace items of the same size but that's not always the case. It's just luck.
2. I've decorated nearly all my villagers' homes. For me it was just trial and error and A LOT OF TIME. Mailing is you best bet (for reorderable items) because you can keep sending an item until they use it, although it's not guaranteed that they will. For unorderable items I wait until they ask me for something to replace an existing item in their home because they'll always replace it as long as it fits their specifications. (Wait for dialog that says, "I need something to replace my ______.") When they ask for something a specific size, they won't always put it up in their room. The chance of that happening is rare but it does happen so I'd rather not risk my unorderable items. Being invited to their homes is good for getting rid of furniture you don't like but some spots (not items) always have to have something there. For example Merengue had a plant that I wanted to get rid of but she wouldn't let me buy it from her so I sent her 1x1 items until she replaced it.

Ahhh okay. So basically wolfgang needs to ask me for furniture that replaces something, rather than -any furniture-.
That makes sense. & Like you said I guess it's just going to take a lot of time lol.
Thanks so much =]

Yeah, I've been trying to redecorate all of my villagers' homes and like mermaidshelf pointed out, wait for them to request to replace a certain furniture or wait until they invite you over to buy off their furniture you don't want them to have. It's super time consuming. You also have to be careful with deliveries since what they get from others can replace what you gave them. I learned that the hard way. ;^; Them asking for furniture is completely random. I highly recommend not giving them anything unless they say a certain size or item (if you have more than 1 thing that's the same size, there's a chance they'll replace that so be super careful).

Just yesterday Stitches finally asked me to replace his mobile after having him in town since last year. The struggle is real.

The modern bed is a large item. It takes up 4 spaces in the room. The sloppy dresser takes up 2 spaces in the room.
The sloppy table could replace the modern bed.

You could also mail it to him. I've been doing the same with Bunnie and instead of giving it to her directly. I've been mailing it to her. Granted that if you do this, they won't always change out their current furniture for the one that you've sent them, but there is a chance they will. I've been replacing Bunnie's furniture with a customised kiddie set and so far, she's swapped everything out.
