Redd - All fake

Hello everyone,

So I got Redd's ship for this first time today and after taking a look at his 2 artworks and 2 statues, it seems they are all 100% fake!

I thought you were guaranteed to get at least one genuine item per visit?

Also, have you guys decorated or terraformed the area around the small beach at the rear of your island? I breed flowers right above there so I haven't done anything with it yet.

It's definitely a possibility!

Ended up purchasing a cool looking fake to use as decoration anyway

Which I'm only actually annoyed about because I used a guide and it contained misinformation, listing a fake painting as genuine, so I bought it.

I terraformed my island to have a large crescent moon shape where my house is, and the top of the crescent exposes the hidden beach. I was GONNA make it my private beach and add stuff like a parasol and beach towel or a table with some refreshments, but then SOMEONE decided that he's too special to park his boat at the dock.

Right now I just have the anchor statue there. Not sure what else I'd put there since it's such a small space, maybe some pirate themed stuff?

I got all fake as well, so yeah, there is a 100% garentueed chance all could be fake.
I ended up buying a fake on purpose though to hang in my living room.

I always compare them to the real painting/statue that it's based on for this reason. Sorry it misguided you.

Ugh that sucks, I'm sorry. So many guides try to be too cute. I wish they'd just post the real life piece of art it was based on for people to judge themselves.

No, I think it's just bad luck on you guys's part. My second Redd visit had a genuine painting.

oof that stinks! thankfully they've done such a wonderful job with the art that they're great for designing even if fake. Still... from a completion perspective that feels like such a jip!

I probably have a bad comparison skill. I really did pulled up the original paintings to compare but I still got a fake. Maybe I should have went with Van Gogh's Starry Night. I have the feeling that it's the genuine one in the bunch.

Now I have a fake La Meninas in my living room.

Someone suggested using Google Lens and it actually works wonder to tell if it's a fake or a real one! Sometimes you need to take the picture several times before it identifies it correctly but once it does it's really helpful

It's random now, they could very well be all real as well. On the upside you get miles for buying something fake from Redd.

If you have a trash can-type item, you can throw the fake away using that.

Or you can just be creative and use it with decorating. Like in my NL town, I had a government-type building where I kept fakes in a backroom so it's like they were confiscated and being examined. Or you can just decorate your house with it just for the heck of it.

my friend got all fakes from redd yesterday so it’s definitely possible - i haven’t decorated my secret beach yet and i likely won’t as i’d prefer to focus on the other parts of my island lol
