Let's talk about those sages, to start off, as you know in OOT, when you become an adult all the sages have died so you have to awaken the new ones and get they're medallion, now a split timeline has been prooven thanks to Iwata and Miyamoto, but people wonder which ones WW and TP go on, one timeline is the childhood timeline link goes back to after defeating Ganon, and the Adult timeline, the world Link left behind, in the adult one link gets the new sages and seals ganon, then after going to the child one, ganon escapes and without a hero the goddesses flood Hyrule, thus starting WW, now in the child one, instead of removing the master sword link and zelda warn the king if Ganon's intentions so he is to be executed by the OLD SAGES (who never died in this timeline) BUT since link never opened the door Ganon never got the triforce BUT because Link brought the triforce of courage with him back in time, it caused a ripple effect and thus Ganon recieved the triforce of power (as seen in the scene in TP) and so the Sages lock him away in the twilight realm since they can't kill him.
