Random Thought of the Day: Having two of the same villager?!

Let's say you have an empty plot open. What would happen if you asked a villager to move onto your island even though you already have that villager?

Since they have to check with resident services if they can move to your island, they probably wouldn't get the approval cause you already have them. Would be funny to have a whole island of one villager tho haha

Honestly this is something i've never thought about before...I wonder...

It's probably fixed in some way so you can't have two, would be my guess

You can’t even get a villager that’s currently on your island to come to the campsite, as they’ll wonder why you want them to go there (via amiibo scanning)

I say test it!!!! It's something I've actually always wondered, glad I'm not the only one! I know it's probably not likely to happen.. I just want to see the outcome/dialog from attempting it.

I've actually tried this before! I tried to invite another Katt to my main island for fun and the dialogue to actually invite her never showed up. After the initial 'Hi, I'm leaving' bit, she just kept rotating between the same two-three things that a villager says when moving out. So there's definitely a lock in place to keep you from inviting duplicates.

This does remind me of that time someone tried to fill their island with Raymonds and nine of them wound up as empty plots when the file was loaded
