It's currently raining on my island...
Anyone else experienced this??
Is it possible I could catch a Coelecanth?

Whaaat, I don't think I've ever had that happen.

Just looked up some screenshots and it really does seem to be possible.. Mind = blown.

As for your question, I think it should be possible! As long as it's between 4pm and 9am, that is.

Wow I've never had rain on my island before!
I should try to go today since it's pouring in my town...

Yes, I have had that happen, but only once :) but I don't know if it's possible to catch a coelecanth, but I think it should be!

Interestingly ACwiki says it can't be caught on the island because it doesn't snow or rain there, but it has rained for me so maybe it is possible to catch one, good luck :)

Probably. I've had it twin in the island before, so it's probably quite rare. I would think you could catch a coelacanth.

Wow, I only thought it was either sunny or cloudy on the island... Never rain. You can't catch a coelacanth though I don't think ~ isn't it only available in the rivers? Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, I've caught it in the sea, so it would be possible I guess.

Wow! I had no idea the weather could change on the island. It's been sunny for me every time I've gone since I started my game in December. I don't see why you couldn't catch a coelecanth in that case; I always find mine in the ocean at my town's beach, so logically you would be able to find them in the island's ocean as well.

Oh boy I hope it still rains in my town at 4pm, if so I'll be trying to catch that darn fish all afternoon!

I got a message on the board in my town about the rainy season, something like it was from now (early April) until the beginning of June.Is this what it was hinting at I wonder?

In real life the Coelacanth is a sea creature, and is not in rivers, only oceans.
According to the wikia it appears in the ocean during rain or snow.

I have had rain on the island but very rarely. If I recall well it was about 2 times only however; I did not catch a Coelacanth there.

I KNEW I wasn't crazy! I could have sworn it rained on my island shortly after I got the game, but I was told it couldn't rain on the island. Vindicated!!! LOL

Yeah I don't know. Just give it a try if it is before 9am and after 4pm. If it has been like 45 minutes and you haven't found one, you probably won't be able to catch one there. I have had it rain before though. In fact, the very first time I ever went to the island it was raining and I was kind of annoyed because since it was raining there was NO music, so it made for a very strange atmosphere and there were like no birdwings or agrias butterflies to catch for some quick and easy money. :(

Rain on the island is insanely rare, and I've personally only had it happen about three times.

Whether you can catch snails or coelacanths I don't think so. It's true that guides might have said you can't catch them because "it doesn't rain or snow on the island" which is false since it can rain on the island (Never snow), but you still have to take into consideration that not all things can be caught on the island to begin with, and some things can't be caught in your town at all as well. Whale Shark for example can never be caught in your town no matter what season it is.

Although I can't say for sure if they can't be caught there I would put my money on "No", personally. Reason being is there are just things not programmed for the island and things that aren't programmed for the town. I would say at least the coelacanth is one of those things. Horseshoe crab is another example of something only available in town even though it's a summer diving creature.
