So, I know they will go away if you get your town cleaned up and developed, but until they die off from fixing the underlying problem do they act like a permanent item? Comparable to like a rock or pwp? Or could potentially a villager move a house in on top of them and destroy them like a tree or a flower?
I have one in my one cycle town and was just curious how likely it was that a villager might take care of it since I won't be doing anything to get rid of it for a while and didn't know if there was a chance it might get dorothy effect-ed.
Just the things I think about when I'm bored while cycling...

Yeah I had one once in one of my old towns, when I just had all my stuff laying around everywhere when I was procrastinating on sorting out. A PWP got rid of it. :)

Oh! Good to know! So I could put a pwp down right there and it'll be killed off?

Just let me come over and so I can catch some flies.

the upside of the rafflesia is that you'll be able to catch flies that are around it.

I was able to catch a fly by putting out a rotten turnip. So do the villagers mention the rafflesia?

I had it in my second town, but I wasn't able to catch flies with my main account because when you have visitors, the flies don't show up.

When I had it in my second town, the villagers never mentioned it.

Oh gosh, my cycling towns have always been plagued by these and I never realized PwP's got rid of them! Very good to know!

I haven't seen one yet but now I feel like I need one in my town, just so I can ~experience~ it. Rafflesias are kinda cute in their own weird way... I want one ;x

Yeah, honestly I'm not offended by it, it makes the same "boing" sound when you hit it with a shovel as villagers do when you do the same which amuses me. If the town was developed maybe it would bother me more, but its just kinda there doing its thing.

Kinda bummer that flies won't show up when there's a visitor though, that's a shame since they don't get to see it in all its full glory :P

TBH I am glad I haven't encountered a rafflesias yet n.n
There really creepy to me but it may look cute in one of those 'woodsy'
towns with a whole bunch of mushrooms and clovers xD

That's the trouble though, once you develop your town and it isn't an undeveloped and weedy mess they die so they wouldn't be able to complement a woodsy town because the trees being there would kill it off :/

I've had them in my perfect fruit town. I usually shake the tree and leave it for next time.
Than I come back three days later and pick the fruit up and shake the trees. Replace any dead. Always leave the shaken ones on the ground.
The other night I picked up all the fruit and removed some trees and didn't replant. It disappeared and I still had items on the beach. Think I had 300 plus trees and it was there.

The PWP might help but it could reappear. Mine has gone away and returned again.

Well I have two different cycle towns. Both of them get weeded completely about with equal frequency, which is to say whenever it gets really gross. I have NOTHING laying on the ground most of the time in the one town, and in the other I have a few caches of items I plan to trade but haven't gotten around to sorting including a beach covered in bush starts, a covered plaza and a few blobs of random items here and there. The town with NOTHING on the ground has the rafflesia. The town with crap on the ground has a camp site and has never had a rafflesia... Neither town has more than a small grove of perfect fruit trees and neither has more than the randomly generated flowers. So pwp's make quite a difference I'd say

So, you have to put garbage on the ground just so you can catch a fly? Last I checked you can't set down bugs in their cages, like you can when you give insects to villagers.

Yeah, I guess like a spoiled turnip? I honestly can't remember how I caught my flies in my main towns. You should be able to catch it the same day you put the spoiled turnip out though I'd think, its like ants, they show up pretty quickly.

and if I'm understanding you right, no you can't gift bugs to people
