I've been plot resetting for a month now and I have a couple questions

1. If I TT to the day before I asked the villager to move in will there house plot still show up? Or maybe instead of TTing in game I change the time on my DS?

2. When I'm plot resetting and I make a new character and I can't find the new plot anywhere in my town can I save and then load in my mayor without the villager's house plot showing up?

1. Day before I don't think so, because they will consider that you never changed the day. When you TT backwards, they don't count as days passing by, game-wise is like you are on the same day. Didn't quite understand your question.

2. Yup. Save with the new character when there is no plot, and open the game with your mayor, there will be no plots. Just remember to delete the character for the next plot resetting

1. Going backwards any amount of time counts as going forward by a day. Villagers moving in and out is counted in days, so if a villager is going to plot tomorrow and you time travel back, the villager will plot on the day you go back to. I time travel by changing the time on my 3DS and it works the same way (going back counting as one day forward). I think it's based on the date of your last save compared to the date of the next time you load the game.

2. Yes. It's only if you don't save as the new character that there's still a chance that the plot will appear when you load as your mayor. If you save as the new character, the state of the town when you save will apply to your mayor's save as well.

Just a heads-up, that's not true. If you save today and go back to yesterday, it will count as one day forward because the game will detect that you've time travelled due to the difference between the dates. You can time travel to stay in the same day by setting the clock back by a few hours each time, but if you go past the 6 AM mark either way, it counts as different days.

This is what I was trying to explain in my first question: http://dragon-roost.tumblr.com/post/95875496286/tip-for-plot-reset

I'm not convinced it works only because I've read many tips/guides about time traveling and all of them say if you TT backwards it counts as a day forward in the AC world but I've never trying TTing via the 3DS clock

Also in my seconds question (I want to be 100% sure as I'm plot resetting for a very important villager at the moment and if they end up putting their plot down in a bad spot I don't want to have to do the 16 villager cycle) I can load in a new character and save them (if there's no new plot) and load in my mayor without messing up plot resetting? and then continue plot resetting the next day?

For your first question, yes, if you stay on the same day youinvited the villager their plot will not show up since you just invited them.

Your second question, yes, you can safely load up your mayor if yousave the new character when there is no plot.

Like Vizionari said, you can stay in the same day you invited the villager safely. You can't go past the 6 AM mark either way, though. The thing about travelling back in time counting as a day forward applies even when you use the 3DS clock to do it. I always use the 3DS clock when I'm time travelling to different days and I can confirm that it does.
