How do you make purple pansies?

I've seen different guides use a bunch of different combinations, but they're not spawning for me. I just need some clarification.

Purple pansies are made out of spawned red pansies. So not red pansies from the store, but ones that came out of hybrids already. That's what I've been told!

According to the Thonky hybrid guide:

Step 1:
Use one of the following combinations to create "Hybrid Red Pansies", or Red Pansies that have an Orange, Purple, and/or Blue parent.
Hybrid Red Pansy = Orange and Red Pansy
Hybrid Red Pansy = Purple and Red Pansy
Hybrid Red Pansy = Blue and Red Pansy

Step 2:
Create Purple Pansies with one of the following combinations:
Hybrid Red Pansy and Hybrid Red Pansy
Yellow Pansy and Hybrid Red Pansy
Purple and Purple Pansy (Best combination)

I've tried the Hybrid Red with Hybrid Red and with Yellow, but nothing is spawning. Are there any other combinations that work?

I found that the hybrid red and hybrid red worked for making a purple pansy. It took a lot of time though to get a purple pansy.

I tried to post how I place mine, but I'm not very forum savvy and therefore it's not lining up properly
But it's basically at diagonals with no flow directly next to the other.
