How do the Ores work with Cyrus?

You have to have the ore and the customizable item in your bag when you talk to him.. to get him to do the thing.. Idk if that's what you're asking lol Can you be more specific?

If something is customizable with ore, Cyrus will suggest you use it. (example: any furniture from the green series can be customized with Emerald)
If you have 3 gold ores by themselves, you can take them (plus 10,000 bells) to Cyrus and get a Golden furniture item.

I guess it depends on the type of furniture... cause there were times I went to Cyrus with 3 ores, lets say ruby, and he didnt do anything with them. I was just confused by the fact that he didn't do anything lol but I guess it has to be a specific item, furniture to work right?

Cyrus takes three pieces of (gold) ore only when he needs them to make special gold furniture. When you want to customize an already-made piece of furniture, he requires one piece of ore to do it.
