Back Home in Hoenn
If someone decides to leave and I let them and move back the time to the correct time, will they still go into boxes the next day?
Yes, moving the time back doesn't seem to change anything in regards to the villagers.
Thanks for the responses.Yes, in fact you can't even skip the box phase by say skipping two days. You have to be present for them asking to leave and their last day on the island. So you get two chances to change your mind if you want.

I thought you couldn't convince a villager not to move once you said they could?

This is not correct. If you TT 2 days after, you WILL skip their boxes phase and the plot will be empty. You do not get a second chance to convince them to stay.
That's weird, because I time travelled 2 days yesterday and they were still in boxes. The second chance thing is something I read somewhere, so never tested.
Hmm did you TT backwards and then 1d forward? Because I noticed that even though TT backwards counts as 1d forward for many things, it doesn't push villagers towards boxes.
If I'm trying to void someone fast, I TT 2+ days forward to clear the plot.
