Question regarding sterile grass spots...

Hello! I've been working very hard on my town landscaping recently! Unfortunately, some spots don't seem to favour the growth of the bushes I am planting.
Does anyone have any advice? I've tried planting fertiliser in the spot and then trying again, but nothing! My town DOES have the beautiful town ordinance.

I'm sure a lot of people have this problem, but I just wanted to check if anyone knew how to take care of it? Is there nothing I can do?

there are some pre-patches of dirt that just will never grow grass. Q^Q
and some 'dead' spots, for whatever reason where nothing will grow.

How many do you have touching? Only 12 can touch at a time after that they don't grown anymore.

Some spots are after twelve bush, you're right! But some of them seem very random, after only a couple or so! For the twelve rule, is it a twelve of anything? (ex: bush-tree x6 would not work either?)

ah i heard that about bushes, and i wanted to know the same thing about combo tree/bush.
i looked it up and apparently the combo is the same. http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Bush

A row of 12 anything, bush, tree, bamboo. Everything counts. It's so you can't plant bushes all around a character's house, effectively locking them in.
Although I've noticed some rows get random dead bushes in them even tho they're not 12 long, too. I have a row of… I think 1 tree and 3 bushes and for some unknown reason I can't put a fifth bush there. Weirdest thing is I used to have a full row, and I accidentally broke it and now it keeps dying. No idea. I'm guessing it's a bug where the game thinks there is a longer row or sth…

And yeah there's "bald" spots in the grass, which are annoying sometimes but you can't do much against 'em.

omfgs i abhor that so much, i cut down a tree because i wanted a different sort of fruit there and i had to replant the whole row because the game wouldn't let the tree grow. now i am afraid to cut down trees that are surrounded. -____-#
