Question for Time Travelers

Okay. So today, July 6th, Monday, Gullivarrr washed up on my beach. So like Redd, I thought of using the 5am exploit (resetting time to 4:58am and waiting until 5am rolls over without modifying the date) so I could collect all his rewards.

So, after giving back his communicator, I saved, quit the game, reset the time to 4:58am, loaded the game, waited for 5am to roll over, let Isabelle finish her announcement, then I proceeded to find Gullivarrr on the beach. But instead, I found Gulliver. I repeated the above, then Flick showed up.

I've been doing this exploit several times and I know the special visitors are tied to the days they show up within the week. In this case, does the day being Monday affect the special visitors that's why they keep shuffling?

I tried farming an NPC for items before, but when I went back to the day they showed up on, I got a different NPC.

I think in not this update but an update or 2 back Nintendo messed with that, making people unable to farm items like that.

When you TT'd, was it between weeks or within the week? Because, someone correct me if I'm wrong, TTing to a different week, either forward or backward, changes their lineup.

Hm, now that I think of it I'm not entirely sure. I know I had to TT 2 days forward to get an animal fully moved in before I could TT back.

Once I have an NPC that isn't Celetse then I'll see if TTing within the same week still works.

Sunday is a "week reset" for NPCs. If you start TTing on a sunday and move through the week, you get your set of NPCs. But if you set back to that original sunday and run the days again, there will be different NPCs on different days.

Make sure you move the day forward (anytime, really, as long as it is the next day. In your case, on the 7th of July) after giving the communicator back so you can receive the mail from him.

When I used to reroll for Redd I would just purchase the art/statue, TT forward, save and TT back to Redd regardless of the time.

I never heard of the 4:58 specific time but ive done the going back and farming an npc. i did it with celeste. but all i did was change the day fwd, go in the game, log back out and change the date back to the previous day. the only thing was making sure it was evening cause thats when celeste shows up. i do remember from nl that if u went to back to sunday it would reset the week so that may be what happened here.

Sunday is a "week reset" for NPCs. If you start TTing on a sunday and move through the week, you get your set of NPCs. But if you set back to that original sunday and run the days again, there will be different NPCs on different days.

So I guess keeping my date on July 6, then waiting for the day to roll over, probably makes the game think that it was Sunday previously despite of the date.

This just shortens the process. I've completed my art gallery using the approach I've mentioned above.

1. So on July 6, you found Gullivarrr. Do the quest/errand and give him the communicator.
2. Time travel to July 7. Anytime, as long as it is the next day like 5:01am onwards. Pick a time you're comfortable with (I do mine around 11:00am coz I like the music). Just pick a time, really. Then check the mail. You will receive an item from him.
3. TT back to July 6 and again, any time (no Isabelle announcement this time), then check the beach. Voila! He's there again. Do the process again and again

That's how I completed the set in one day (actually in just 5 or so hours).

Oh sorry about that. I think the reason why it shuffled coz you technically moved the date back after doing the Gullivarrr quest then waited for it to be "July 6" again. That's technically another new day so the visitor left and you got another. I suggest you TT until you find Gullivar again on a different date then try the process I mentioned above. Good luck.
