This is for anyone and everyone who is involved with any kind of programming.
I am currently taking fundt. of programming class at college, and right now we are doing Java. The teacher is HORRIBLE!! But anyways, is Java the first type of programming that I should be taking? I just want to start creating/programming games.

I learned Java first. Then I learned C. A lot of Schools do C then Java. They are very similar to each other.

I am learning CSS, then will hopefully go on to learn that kind of thing. I just personally think it better to learn like the basic computer programming that is used on the internet before specialist software like that but yeah.

I learned Visual Basic first, which is the easiest, however it's not very practical to use. After VB, I moved onto some basic C++ and then Java. So it doesn't really matter what order you learn it, as long as you're comfortable.

I know C++ and Flash, I started with flash.
I kind of know Java, Still learning though.
I know HTML a lot, But HTML is very easy to learn.

Hmm, well I am just asking because the teacher that I have for Java, which I already said, sucks, and is kinda putting me off a little on continuing with programming. Don't if you guys have heard of Alice but thats what she taught first and it was too easy and not very practical with how most games or webpages are made. I don't want to totally give up on it yet, thanks for the suggestions, seems like C++ is more widely used so I might check that out first.

Well, You should start with Visual basic to start you off just like I did.

Good Luck though.
