Question concerning the update!

If I update my cartridge on my current 3ds, and then insert it into a different one and update it from that system, nothing will affect my progress and data, right? :'o just being cautious before I do it, because I occasionally switch consoles if I can't currently find or use my main one-

Oh, I wouldn't worry about doing that. I did it myself and there weren't any problems.
