Do villagers only give a one week notice before moving?

I recently reset my town after not playing for about a year. Since I've restarted, I've noticed that when villagers ping to move, it's always a week away. I vaguely remember having villagers that would give me two weeks notice before moving. Do they start giving more notice once the town gets older or we become closer, or am I just remembering wrong?

I believe it is a ten day notice, however, it may appear you have less time depending on when you are told they are moving. Once that villager 'decides' to move, they will ping you (as long as you've spoken to them recently and have not ignored them for more than a week). If you happen to get pinged on the day they decide to move, you get 10 days notice. Otherwise if they take a few days, it may appear to be less time.

if i'm not wrong, if you play every day you get it in 10 days' time. but if it's more sporadic it could be anywhere to that time to the day they're already in boxes. however they will not move out if your friendship isn't high enough. i have... many experiences with that

the maximum is a 10 days' notice. but when villagers decide they want to move, they don't always ping you on the day of that decision. if they notify you fewer than 10 days that just means the game decided to hold off on telling you. this doesn't stop other villagers from being able to mention it to you, though.

max is ten days, but villagers can tell you even with 3 days notice, and i think other villagers can notify you if another villager is moving but they havent told you.

Thanks everyone! I guess I was used to playing more often and getting the full 10 days notice...
I really do wish it was a full two weeks though :)

I wish it was two weeks as well. That would be fantastic. I also wish they gave you more than five days before the villagers comment that it's been too long since they last saw you.

I wish the move-out time was longer, but at the same time it's too long if your waiting for a villager to move out. I think a system where the villager has to ping you before they move could work, and then maybe have 3 days of them still in town in case you change your mind. I had a scare today with Filbert where I didn't get a notification by him until today (and he would have moved tomorrow). I'm assuming this shouldn't be too big of an issue with TTs either (I don't TT so I can't speak here). Hopefully they rework the moving-out system for AC Switch.
