Question about villagers moving into plots?

If I set the last four plots around the island (where they buy land), will just random villagers move in? Or do I have to invite them myself like before?

You can invite them from the camp and the islands.
Random villagers will occupy it if you don't do anything.

Wondering myself. I'd hate to make the plot, and feel rushed to fill it before the game does lol

Well, no one can move in until you build the furniture required, so you *should* be safe until you do that (in theory)

Oh okay, my friend says there wasn't any furniture to make when he put one down unfortunately

I put one down for my camper, and there was no furniture list nor a place to put them.

That's a relief then. I'm not at the point yet where I can invite more villagers in, but it's good that you can plan plots first before inviting villagers.

At least for the first 3 you invite, I invited them within like 2 days lol. So not sure about the rest after that

That would make sense, since (in new leaf at least) you could only have one villager moving in/out at a time.

If your town isn't "popular rated" enough or w/e Tom Nook calls it then it'll take longer for people to move in. It could take days, or you could see someone there in a day. There's RNG to it.

I think there's a chance that a villager might move in at 5am if you have an open plot. Others here have said that they used all their Nook Miles on tours and didn't like the villagers only to have a rando move in overnight.

I just invited someone from the mile island and then went to another one and there was no villager so i'd believe this.
