Question about villagers moving in

I have a villager (ex. Marshall) and he's in a really cruddy spot and I want him to move out, but I still want a Marshall in my town. On my second town I have another Marshall. If the Marshall in my primary town moves out can the Marshall in my secondary town move in or will I have to cycle though villagers, or will it work since it's a completely different Marshall?
