Question about Time Traveling?

So I’m time traveling as you do on a deserted island, and I was wondering:

Does the Active Island Resident achievement count consecutive days (or “days” in my case) or is it like New Leaf where it’s your total time?

it's days you've played. my island is almost a year old yet i only have 87 active days. i'm a slacker, yes. reset in november last year, abandoned my town after new years. booted up the game and i still had christmas decor out, lol.
