Question about thought bubble transfer

Do you actually have to talk to the villager every day for it to transfer?

Day 1: Muffy wanted to move. I closed the game on the yes/no dialogue

Day 2: Muffy had a thought bubble again. It didn’t disappear when I went indoors and so pretty sure she wanted to move again.

Did I mess this up by not talking to her at all on Day 2?

From my understanding if you answer the yes/no then save the game will not have another villager thinking about moving for another 5 days... hence the not talking to them for it to transfer to the next villager. (which you demonstrated you didn't save/answer their question, so good there.) The game could have just RNG'd Muffy again on wanting to move the following day. Which, NH has showed us all that it RNGesus is not very forgiving in several aspects.

However, I am not 100% sure on the process...

Thanks for your reply! I did not answer. I closed the game on that screen. Though I did wait a little while so hopefully it didn't autosave in that time.

The next day was Muffy again which I know can happen - just wondering if I messed this up by not talking to her at all on Day 2.
