Question about the traveling and island visitors

So in my time traveling yesterday I noticed a meteor shower and opened up my island to that date today but it keeps kicking visitors off my island with connection issues is that in regards to the time traveling or just connection?

Connection issues. I have had people over quite a bit while I was TTing without any problems.
