Okay so I was doing the plot reset trick and I saw Angus had set up a plot right in the middle of my hybrids. So I quit the game and started up with a new character only to find there was no new plot in a different place. I quit and tried it again but still no new plot. I'm afraid to go onto my mayors character because knowing my luck as soon as I do a villager will move in somewhere I hate (it's already happened this week cause I was careless... Stupid Astrid).

So yeah, I only have eight villagers but since no new plots are showing up is it safe to load my mayor? And if not what should I do? Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you checked every possible location?
Sometimes villagers take 2 days to move in. Maybe TT again to the next day and login as a new save file?

I suggest you do not go onto your mayor unless you are 100% sure she will not turn up.

If you don't want a new plot make a new character and make sure to save. If you don't save there's a chance a plot will show up when you load your mayor.

Yes I've checked everywhere and it's the second day since my last villager moved out. Okay I'll try that, thanks!

I wasn't sure whether do to that or not because I've heard of situations where it hasn't worked. :S But I'll try it if TT a day ahead doesn't work

If you're certain there's no plot, save your new character before you start up as mayor :)

Does that definitely work then? :D

I was under the impression that you were worried about getting a random move in, not worried that a villager you invited wasn't showing up... sorry if that's the case.

...And summ3rain worded what I was trying to say much nicer, heh!

Oh no you're right it is a random move in! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to question your advice, I just heard of a situation where it hadn't worked before is all! Thanks for the help you guys, I'll try it out in a bit and see if it works! :)

I have the same issue with Astrid! Glad she is out now and my town can finally live in peace~

It was just my luck too! I had just managed to kick Zell out after three months and then Astrid decides to plonk down in front of my bridge and ruin my path! I'm currently trying to ignore her to get her to move out. Hopefully that'll work quicker than trying to get a high level friendship with her.
