Just cause I'm curious, is the a reason people on this site refer to Saharah as "she" when Nintendo's official stuff all lists him as male? My villagers refer to him as a guy, but since so many people on TBT call him "she" I was wondering is there some reason? (I know Gracie was made female in some regions because of ok*ma stereotypes, is it like that?)

Are you playing in Japanese ?

Because yes, like Gracie, Sahara became a she in the western versions

Sorry I edited my post a second ago, when I realized your were talking about Gracie at the end of your message 😊

Sahara also became a girl in the western versions and so did Blanca

oh, that's interesting. I wonder why... Ty for answering!

Saharah is a guy? But those insane lashes. :p
idk about other languages, but he's male in the japanese games  he only wears a vest without a shirt (kind of like guys in the aladdin movie) so I always thought it made sense, but I never knew he was changed to a girl in the english versions. It's a weird but neat little quirk of the games I guess!

lol all camels have long, long lashes to die for... and the name IS female by most standards lol. i had no idea that she was considered male in the non-western so cool.

He's not actually called Saharah in jp (pretty much all of the names are different across languages). In jp his name is ローラン aka Loulan (a kingdom on the silk road). Could also be romanized as Roland/Laurent, but Loulan seems most likely thematically

i was referring to the name saharah(you used it), which is feminine, which is why in western regions well... she's a she...

I can't decide if the reason they changed their gender was because of the eyelashes (like everyone is saying) or if it was just because Saharah was too good a name (and pun) to pass up. Probably both.

Makes it more interesting how Tom Nook dislikes Sahara in New Leaf because Sahara gave off an obsessive idol or infatuated feeling when they referred to Nook.
