Question about recruiting villagers from another town.

I was just wondering... For example, I have 10 vollagers and one of the was boxed up and someone came to recuit them so the house will say "moved away" when you try to enter. When the house is still there, but says moved away, would you be able to recruit villagers from another town?

I don't think so. I think their plot has to be completely gone before you can pick up another villager.
Do they still show up on your map key?
