Question about plot resetting

Acres may be messing with you then ^^; I don’t quite get them myself, but the town is evidently divided into invisible 16x16 regions, and you can only have three proper buildings- i.e. houses, town hall, police station, etc- in a given region. Trying to put them all in a single line with only two spaces between each /might/ be messing you up there. If possible, try introducing larger spaces after the 3rd house, or breaking them up into further clusters?

Ah... ^^; in that case, I’m afraid I’m about stumped... I had tried a run similar to that once but always had the game force other plot sets so I figured it was just fiddly like that. Hope you can find some answers! D:

The only thing I noticed on the map you posted from Reddit is that there seems to be a little extra space in between every fourth house. That might be just enough to kick them into a separate acre.

I plotted out my entire town on a grid representing the 16 acres and made sure that my plots meet the 3 house minimum per acre rule. It's only the very center square of the house that counts to determine what acre it's in, so that's why people can sometimes squeeze the houses into a very tight line.

I've never done the straight line myself. I placed a fountain in the middle and 6 villager houses around it to form my own little town plaza area. But I had to tweak the plot locations a couple of times to get it just right. First, I had to move a plot back one space away from the cliff, and then I had to move another plot one space further away from a rock. Of course, each adjustment meant I had to move out the villagers who had already plotted so I could move those plots a space or two to keep everything lined up properly. It was a lot of trial and error, but now that I have the plots all figured out, any time I bring in new villagers, they go right in the open plot on the first try.

Another tip: If the gem rock spawns in the open plot, a villager won't be able to move there, so I fill the open plot with flowers that I don't mind being crushed. I also don't cover the entire town in patterns, so things like the gem rock, gyroids, etc can still spawn.

I know it can be a frustrating process. I got frustrated myself with it quite a few times. But once you get everything to work out in the end, it is so satisfying. So don't give up. Keep working at it and I'm sure you'll find a way.

I have lined all my houses all across always at the bottom of the map...and the acres have never really affected. They always plot set in one try for me unless I accidently erase a path somewhere in the village. I notice you have separated them by two units.
I have always done three units and that has worked out for me.

Also , if you have a character space, you can always try and check if the villager plots themselves correctly without actually saving the game.
It goes like this:

1) Create a new villager, it ONLY works with new characters.

2) Roam around town to see if anyone is moving in and if they are moving in where you want them to. If something is wrong, just go to the Home Menu and reset the game to try the process all over again.

3) Go to Town Hall to talk to Isabelle, talk to Nook, pick a place to lay down a house, go back to Town Hall so you can officially be able to save and quit.

4) Delete the new villager and enter the town as your other characters. You will have a lame brown spot to worry about, but that's it.

Normally I save my mayor at 5:57 am and then turn of the game and wait three minutes and then load a new file. ( new villagers plot at 6 am which is when the new day starts).

If they literally had all homes next to each other, you could fit 5 in a 16x16 space, but I do see your point. I doubt they would be this close to each other.

in my experience, you need a 2x2 space in between houses if youre trying to organize them in a straight line
i would recommend the original poster to check out my dream address, because i successfully organized all my houses in a straight line to eachother using plot resetting

hey! i put many of my houses right next to eachother, in a straight line
i would recommend checking out my dream address if you want to see what it looks like visually
and, if you have any questions, feel free to VM me ^-^

Can you post pics of how your laying down your 3?3 patterns on Twitter or something and link here? You probably just missed some spots.
