Question about Nook Miles items

You know how all Nook Miles furniture is locked to one color per island? If I were to trade with other players, would it give me the ability to then order those items like you can with regular furniture, or would it still be locked? For example, I have the black streetlamp. If I got a white streetlamp from someone, would I then be able to order white streetlights from my island, or would I have to still trade with other players to get more? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
