Question about new villager & plot resetting

hey guys, long post, bear with me. I have a question about plot resetting.


you know how when you plot reset, you walk around town and you finally see the house plot and you go read who it belongs to and it tells you the villagers name?
now when you don't like the plot, you exit the game without saving, load up a new character file and the plot changes, but the villager is still the same, the villager doesn't change.

well this wasn't the case for me today. i plot resetted today, and i saw a plot for Pashmina.
my town is relatively new, so i dont care where the house sets on to, and i dont particularly care for Pashmina either. I only plot reset because in case a new potential dreamie is moving in, I can control the movement of the house to where I generally would like it to go.

so Pashmina isn't a dreamie, i'm gonna allow her to move when she pings, and her house placement doesn't mean anything to me. so i exit the game and load up my mayor.
i see the changed plot and this time it doesn't belong to Pashmina...but the villager changes to Grizzly.



very weird!! I plot reset a lot and I knew for sure that the villager doesn't change...if it did then everyone would plot reset for their dreamie and there wouldn't be such an economy to buy dreamies.
what gives? did anyone else deal with this before where the villager changes when you plot reset? or maybe im confused (probably)?

im assuming that you didnt get pashmina via another person's town or campsite, right? thats the thing. if its a random move in, each time you reset the game it'll be a different villager. also, there are over 300 villagers so i doubt people will continuously resetting random move-ins to get their dreamie. plus, lets say they do actually get their dreamie, the plot may be in a bad place :// its not a great idea

and about the whole villager/plot change thing that happened, did you save on the new file when you saw pashmina's plot? if not, the villager/plot will be different when u log on to ur mayor. this is a pretty common mistake. you have to save (go through the whole process of buying a house from nook and becoming a resident) for that villager & placement to be set in stone.

You have to create a house and save or else the plot you've set won't be permanent.

Unless you are doing that??? Then I agree, it is weird!

Oh I see...I think I was confused with the fact that I used to always plot reset when I was receiving a villager from another player, therefore the villager never changes. I totally haven't plot resetted when it was a random villager. And you're right...the odds are way too small to constantly plot reset for a dreamie, AND for them to even plot to a good spot.
