So, I just found my lost copy of ACNL and theres Stitches on it. I'd like to have him in my other town. Unfortunately, I only have one 3DS, so, am I right that another person needs to store him, wait till he moves out from their town so that I can come pick him up from my other town? That would suck! :<

Another question I have about plot resetting: Since the WA-update villagers don't move on pattern I've heard. So, what if my whole town is covered in patterns? Does that mean I wouldn't get any new villagers?
How big needs the free pace to be for them to move there?

Yeah, you would have to have somebody else hold Stitches in their town but you don't necessarily have to wait a long time for him to move out if the person helping you has some Amiibo cards. They can bump him out as soon as he moves in and is no longer in boxes. If you have the means,I would recommend getting another DS.You can get a 2DS for about $50-$60 used or a new one for $80.With another machine, you won't have to depend on other people to move villagers/furniture/fruit/etc. between your towns.

I've seen conflicting information about plot resetting since the update. Some people have said that villagers have moved on top of their paths even though they laid them out to get them to move to specific areas. It's possible that the game will just move a villager wherever it can if there are too many patterns laid out.I haven't had any new villagers moving on my paths but I'm not all that picky about where they plot.A villager house plot is 3x3 but if you include the "buffer" area around it that changes to 5x5.

I will only talk about this since Nunnafinga answered the first one as well as I could.
Based on what I know, the villagers are made to never move on patterns as long as another option is available. If your entire town has no free 3x3 space (with the 5x5 boarder), the villager will plot in a random place over the patterns. If you want to do proper plot resetting, lay out a grid of designs every 3rd space and frame the area for the villager?s plot in designs to make it more visible.
I have heared that people had weird issues with plot resetting. I have been to a town where the person did a perfect layout but for some reason a villager wouldnt move into a certain space. My guess is that MAYBE the game has certain areas where the villagers will never plot (this exists for trees, there are two-tree spaces in your town where a tree or bush will never grow for some weird reason), but it could have been a bug as well.
The villagers are only supposed to move on patterns if there is no other space. I personally can?t explain why they sometimes don?t, however, most of the time, they ignore the rule because the space the player "picked out" is, in fact, not suitable.
