Question about Meteor Showers?

So I am confused about meteor showers that give star fragments. I know they happen randomly but I have yet to have one even though I had Celeste on my island a few times already. I have looked in the sky every night but I haven't seen a shooting star yet. Does it take a certain amount of time for one to happen? And is there a way to tell when one is going to happen?

Nope! They occur randomly, with or without Celeste! Sometimes Isabelle will announce in the mornings, sometimes not. I found out I had a meteor shower once when I was talking to my villagers and they kept talking about shooting stars and how it’ll be a beautiful night.

I had a meteor shower announced early into my playing of the game but only yesterday did I get another meteor shower announced for me. And I time travel A LOT. I think they’re extremely rare. But if you do happen across just one meteor shower, you can TT repeatedly to that same day to farm all the recipes and get all the fragments you need, as long as you don’t TT past a Sunday.

It’s random! I get regular shooting stars after 9pm on clear nights. They’ll sneak up on me in batches of 2/3 and sometimes have to wait 15/20 mins between each set... very hard to track! Usually when the night sky is so clear that I can see a feint aurora kind of glow, I’m pretty much guaranteed to have shooting stars

Oh wow really? I had that glow last night but I didn't see any shootings stars...maybe I missed it.

Oh she does? Good to know! I wasn't sure if you are able to get every recipe from her yet.

Isabelle announcement cannot be trusted. I noted down meteor shower one day and when I time traveled to that day again she didn't announce it! And the meteor shower was still happening. Then I forgot about it and went to that date for real and she announced it again =/

I usually listen to the star sound (turn that volume up!). I noticed on regular clear days, for me, shooting stars happen after ten and more consistently after twelve.

I also get Celeste showing up when it is cloudy and no shooting stars at all for that night. So yeah...

When I do get shooting stars they come in waves. I'd get them randomly for five minutes or so then at lease a ten minutes pause before getting another wave. The difference I get between meteor showers and regular shooting stars is the frequency. During meteor showers I can get 20 or so shooting stars in 5 minutes period vs 3-5 for regular.
