i have a meteor shower tonight and saharah in my town so i was thinking of letting people in to get the diy from celeste and buy from saharah if they want. My question is do people who are not on my friends list have the ability to take things? like flowers, items i placed or fruit from trees? i've never done this so i'd like to know what i could be getting myself into.

So the best friend option allows them to use the axe and the shovel.
So even if you don't have them on your best friend's list, they can:
- Trample/pick flowers. This isn't too much of an issue for me since they grow back.
- Shake trees for fruit/sticks/money/etc
- Pick up anything you DROP. If it's placed, then they can't pick it up. If it's dropped, they can.

They can take fruit from trees, but they cannot dig up flowers / pick up items that are placed. They can, however, pick it up if you just dropped it.
They can also run through / pick your flowers so be wary of that.

What you could do if your worried about your island is push Celeste to the airport or near the airport and build a fence around her so the visitors only have access to her and the airport
make a rule aswell saying only leave by airport and not “-“ otherwise she will teleport out

If you do that be sure to tell anyone visiting to leave through the airport. If they leave through the "-" button, the visitor trapped in the fence will teleport somewhere else on the island. Had to learn this the hard way.
