Question about getting back a villager

I know about the 16-villager cycle, and in my other town, Forest, Roald moved out and I want him back. He stopped appearing in main street, so that means his memory is erased from the file. I have less than 9 villagers and I'm plot resetting to try to get him. Only jock villagers appear since I don't have one in town. But will Roald appear in the fenced-in plot, or do I have to get him from another village who has him moving?

Only if you are absolutely certain that you have cycled 16 villagers. It sounds like you should be able to get him back now as he is no longer on your Main St.

But I swear once that even tho Zell once disappeared from my Main Street that he STILL wouldn't show up even tho I set and reset for him as a smug. So I TT'd out a few more villagers and THEN I got Zell back.

So I'm not positive that him disappearing from Main St was a guarantee of him being out of memory. I just thought it was possible that since Main St never shows all 15 or so that it could "erase" a few at a time just for the sake of your Main St not being flooded with villagers every time you go there.
