Question about designs!

I can't find the answers to my questions on paths or designs anywhere o_o All I can find are paths and designs QR codes so please help me out here!

So I'm trying to make some nice paths right now and I know you can save designs with Mabel. If I load a new QR code over a design I currently have even if I've saved it with Mabel, will it replace that design with the newly loaded design? That sounds super convoluted, I know, but the whole path thing is really convoluted. Will I have to make a new character if I want more than 10 path spaces? And can I even make that character if I have 10 villagers? If I do have to make said villager, how to do I get rid of them?

Hard to believe I've had this game since it first came out and I still know nothing O___O

if you have designs saved with mabel, they won't be deleted unless you delete them.
you do need another player if you want more than 10 designs though, and yes you can make up to 3 players besides your mayor regardless of how many villagers you have.
to delete said player, you will need to load the character up. instead of playing, ask to do something else (not sure what it is exactly called but choose the second choice) and demolish that players home.
however, if you delete said player, all designs will be lost and will disappear from your town.
finally, if you replace a design with another in your MAIN 10, it will replace it wherever it is in your town.

Thank you for answering! So if I make this other player, have them put some designs down, and then delete them, the designs will disappear too? >_< Gah, that's troublesome. Are there any other benefits to having a second character?

I can help you with that since I have a second character.
Unfortunately, yes. If you do delete a second character, you do lose the designs as well. A benefit of having a second character is for the qr storage. For example: I use my second character mainly for path qr codes while the mayor has nothing but clothes qr codes. Another good thing about them is storage. You can store more stuff if you have two charcaters. Also, if you love decorating houses, you can decorate the second characters house so yea

Advantages of 2nd character:

Storage
Another house to decorate!
If Redd has more than one real item (it does happen), the second character can get it
they can also get a golden watering can, and other golden tools, so you always have a backup
for non-reorderable DLC, you can get a second copy of the item
more weeding day items on weeding day!

I know there's more. I actually have 3 characters in my town. I'd like to have 4, but I need to save one for plot resetting.
