Question about cycling towns and should I start one?

I'm on the fence about buying a digital copy to start a cycling town. I think it'd be fun to see who moves in and maybe get some people their dreamies or something. But before I decide I need to know one thing for sure: if your main town is on a physical copy, and you start a new town on the same 3DS with a digital copy, does anything interfere whatsoever? Whether it be in-game times or as bad as losing your town, anything at all? Also, if anybody who does cycling could help encourage me to start, that'd help alot as well. I really want to do this but I need some positive reinforcement, I can't help but feel like something could go wrong.

If you buy a digital copy and make it a cycling town, you have to change all time in-game. Changing it on the 3DS clock would affect your physical copy.

Just make sure you don't change much on your 3DS cause both ACNLs will notice the change

I only planned on changing time from in-game so that shouldn't be a problem.

So all I have to do is not touch the 3DS clock? The in-game clocks are independent of each other?
