Ok so I've seen pics, vids and whatever else of custom paths ranging from 1-3 sometimes even 4 tiles wide. They all have their own pros and cons it looks like and I really don't know how to decide between all those choices :c

So my question to you guys is what size (how wide) would you prefer your custom path to be? 1,2,3 or 4? Would you keep it consistent throughout the whole town or would you change it up depending on where it is in town? For example in the town plaza it might be 3 tiles wide where as villager houses might be only 2 or 1 tiles. Let me know guys thanks :)

I would make this a poll but frankly I don't know how >.<

I like 2-tile wide paths. They match up with bridges and benches (in width size) but they'll look a little strange with 3-tile things (like the fountain and houses). I always make it work though.

2 tiles 3 tiles? It all depend on how my flow goes =x

I mix mine up! I use 3-tile paths for the main road that runs from my train station to the town hall. I use 1-tile paths for minor roads that either lead to PWPs or act as some kind of "secret path". Everything else is 2 tiles wide.

2-tile paths have been the best middle-of-the-road option for me; 1-tile paths feel a bit too narrow, and anything 3+ takes up a LOT of space especially on roads that have a lot of bends and corners.

I don't have paths yet, as my town is so new and I'm still getting new villagers and what-not, but when I do, I'm doing this. I'll be mixing it up. 3-tile wide when it comes to leading up to main buildings or wide PWP's and what have you, 1-tile wide when leading to little grottoes and small PWP's and such, and 2-tile wide for everything else. ^^

I used to use 3-4 tile wide paths but I found that to be a nuisance because bridges were two tiles wide and I had issues with parts of my town not accommodating to the paths such as rocks and ledges. Having wide paths also made my town feel pretty desolate since a lot of it became paved. Now I just stick to 2 tile wide paths with the occasional 3 and 1. Narrower paths give your town more options for plants and PWPs which makes it feel denser and cozier plus they flow better with parts of your town that can't be changed like ledges and bridges. I tend to stay away from only using 1 tile paths just because they're so risky to run on if you line them with flowers and they make towns look like mazes

Me too! ^^
If you wanna have 1-tile paths I think it's gonna be too narrow. For 3 -tile paths, they take up a lot of space.
I would settle down with 2-tile paths, since they don't take up that much space and go best with bridges.
1-tile paths & 3-tile paths can be used occasionally as well, it depends on your town layout.

I really really like this idea. 1 tile paths for little secret paths hehe that sounds awesome ^.^

I might seriously just do that, I mean you'll have to do 2 tile paths anyways for bridges and I hadn't even thought of that

I like 2 tile wide paths because that is how wide the bridges are.

I use 3 in places that I think require it, but i use 1 a lot as I have various short cuts throughout my town.

edit. oh well darn everything i posted was said already. the only thing i have left to offer for advice is to visit my dream town if it helps. ^^

I think 2 tiles wide is the best way to go. Otherwise it'll look too...pathy XD
I'm doing a 1 tile wide path in my town, but only because they're stepping stones and it looks best this way. I would do two wide if it was a "road" type path though. :)
