Question about controlling characters during a dream

I can't seem to find anyone who can answer this so thought I'd start a thread.

If you have more than one character in town, how can you control who is inside their house and who is walking around outside their house, during a dream?

I have visited a town a few times that has 4 character homes. One is set up like a mall and that character is dressed like a security guard and is always inside the house 'guarding' the shops. (I think it's a cute idea) All the other characters are just outside their houses walking around.

So how do you get one character to always be inside during a dream?

I think that it might have been just coincidence, whenever I visit dream towns it always just seems to be random. Sometimes the characters will be in their houses, other times the same characters will be outside

I think it's random but the characters will always stay near their houses.

So I've just randomly managed to get that particular character inside each time I have been to that town? Odd coincidence. Was hoping there was a way to trick them to stay inside or something, lol. Thanks

You're probably right because no on else seems to know how to do it either.
