Firstly, please let me know if this question is in the wrong place! I tried to find a proper thread for it, but I'm not entirely sure u_u

I currently have a villager (my 10th) in boxes, and I'm trying to get my last dream villager to take his place. I'm worried that if I do find someone getting rid of my dream villager, and I TT to get rid of Frank so I can invite the dreamie to move in, I'll end up getting a plot from a friend's void immediately after Frank is gone.

I'm wondering if I can invite another villager to move in while Frank is still in boxes, if he's my 10th? Or will I have to just hope no voided villagers find their way into my town before I can invite another one in?

I tried googling it and only found a few differing opinions. Any help is appreciated, thank you! c:

You must have 9 houses or less to invite a villager into your town. Therefore, the answer is no, you're gonna have to risk getting a voided villager. If you simply load with a new file each day, and check for StreetPass moveins, you can minimize the damage that the 10th does to your landscape.

This is in the right place, don't worry about it c:

I've honestly never dealt with a situation where I've had to bring a villager in at the same time having one move out, but I know that since this is your 10th villager, it's less likely for a random villager to move in. 9 villagers is what people are usually stuck with, so I wouldn't worry about another random 10th villager coming in. Just don't take too long. Even though it's rare, it still could happen so just wait until the villager actually moves out, then go and convince your dream villager to move in with you

So basically..just wait until the 10th villager is officially out. Otherwise it won't work

Thanks! I wanted to ask, because I found a thread that mentioned someone was able to invite a villager in even with their 10th in boxes, but I think that was from the Campsite.

Oh well, fingers crossed then!

I'm worried because it happened to me recently! I had Olivia, who was my 10th move out, and then out of nowhere Peggy showed up from a friend's town I'd visited. I can't remember if it was the next day or not, though.

My town is also called Everleaf :)

I will be in the same situation as you tomorrow, I have a villager moving out, and I wanted to select my next villager from the campsite. It could take ages and I like to visit other towns. Dilemna, dilemna.

If you have 10 villagers (including the one in boxes) you need to wait for him to move out. You could always reduce your chances of getting a voided villager by not playing with anyone via wifi until you get a replacement villager and switching off StreetPass. Do you time travel? If you do, you could always get rid of this villager when you already know you can get a replacement or time travel to make sure you never go past the day and hour when a new villager could plot.

Another thing you could do is start the game as a new character every day. When that character gets the map, don't go to the town hall. Just walk around and carefully check for new plots (they won't show up in the map). If there are none, get your house set up with Tom Nook and save the game. You can then load as your mayor and delete that character, and do this again the next day. If there's a plot, starting as a new character means that you can quit without saving and try again until there isn't a plot (though there will always be one if it's guaranteed that that villager will move in, but at least you'll know that you need to use your mayor in the day before to invite someone else).

I think Everleaf is such a cute name n_n I hope it works out with your villager! I was able to get mine without having any issues with voids moving in! I've been doing so much trading lately trying to complete my item wishlist, I was almost certain I'd get a random 10th plopped down somewhere ;;

That's what I usually do, but I was worried since with the voided villagers there's no getting rid of them whatsoever. I TT'd to the day after he moved, made a new character, checked for plots, saved, and then just kept resetting the time so the day wouldn't pass, just in case xD I got the villager I was wanting, so it worked quite well!

I have been lucky enough never to have picked up a void, I usually ask if it is clear before interaction...but I also have street pass totally off so not sure if that's my protection. Or luck.
