So I want another physical copy of animal crossing new leaf but the question is can my data from either game corrupt because I'm playing both on the same 3DS?

I don't think so. I have two copies of the game and am probably getting a third, and I haven't had any issues with corruption. It's always possible, but very unlikely if you're careful. c:

Oh okay I'm just wondering. Reason for the question is that I hate my layout but I put a lot of work in my town n can't seem to force myself to restart so basically I want another copy. Btw any tips on how data shouldn't be corrupted.

Just don't drop your 3ds or damage your cartridge. People say that you can get corruptions from plot resetting, but I haven't heard any true stories about it. c:
Of course, my ds is pretty new so it might be more likely depending on the age of your 3ds. I really don't know much about corruption since I haven't had any experience with it.

Alrighty Tysm :3 i don't know about the plot resetting I've been doing it for a while but nothing has happened. My ds should be turning one after December so pretty new I guess. XD Anyways Tysm :3 I'll be researching more about this. Once again thank you :3

ahh np. although you should prob get advice from someone who's experienced corruption since i really don't know much about it. X3

I don't see why having a second copy of the game would make a difference.

AC stores data directly to the cartridge, not your SD card so really it's no different from taking out AC and putting in a completely different game altogether...Essentially "Would playing Kirby Triple Deluxe corrupt my Animal Crossing data?"

The street pass features, maybe, since that stuff does save to the SD card as far as I'm aware. I don't have two copies though so I wouldn't know how it handles two copies if you're using street pass, and have never heard of anybody having an issue with that (maybe they just have street pass turned off?).
I think if there's any issue though, it would be that. But I doubt there will be. That's if you even use street pass in the first place.

Hey thank you so much for the information. I just wanted to see what others would say/think about it. You're also right about the street pass feature. I guess on one of the copies it'll have to be turned off. Anyways thanks so much for replying. It's really helpful.

I have 2 3ds and 2 physical games, but I bought my sister her own physical copy of the game and she used one of my 3ds for a while before she got her own. I wondered if the StreetPass houses she had in her game while playing on my 3ds would show up when she started playing on her own 3ds. They did, so the StreetPass houses must have saved to the cartridge and not the SD card. Neither of us have had any problems, except when my sister dropped her 3ds in the toilet and it fried the battery. But the game & sd card were fine... just had to dry out the 3ds in rice for about 3 weeks and buy a new battery, so my sister went back to using my 3ds until her new one dried out.
Good Luck.

It could just be that certain Street Pass data is only 'temporarily' saved to the SD card until you actually go onto Animal Crossing. Once you go into AC and check the HHS it must 'copy it' to the cartridge.

But still, there must be some 'other' streetpass stuff on the SD card since it obviously still works when you don't have the cartridge in the 3DS. For one, it must store the data of your mayor in order to send it to other people in SP even when you don't have the game in the system.
That's something I can imagine causing an issue with two copies trying to send out two different 'Mayor data'.
